Villa Carioca is a nice and relaxing place. Staff at reception is friendly and provides good advices on request. Hotel quite central (though not on the main touristic areas like Copacabana) and very close from metro which allow fast connection to other areas of Rio.

Room quite basic but OK (ours had shared bathroom). The weakness is the cleanliness of the room and more important of the shared bathroom, which is quite poor. Breakfast is OK but not as good as most Poussadas were we stayed in other cities of Brazil.

The location is so good and from the hostel, you can reach all main sites in Rio easily and quickly by bus, metro or taxi. Moreover, the place is quiet and safe, with friendly staff who can always help a lot.

Excellent hostel! Very clean, everything is working, tasty buffet breakfast, located in a safe district. Excellent, super helpful,english-speaking staff.The interior designed by the owners so you'll feel yourself as in house, not in a boring everywhere-the-same-look hotel. Really good place to stay!!! Want to come back!!!!!!

great staffs who always helped me! whole hostel was clean and well maintained, and i felt really comfortable. people staying there were also wonderful, we went out every night!:) oh and location was awesome, near from everywhere! (beaches, city, corcovado, sugar loaf) thank you vila carioca, i enjoyed my stay there! and i'm sure I'll come back!:D

The staff working at Vila Carioca were great! Most of them speak good English, are very friendly and full of useful information. The hostel is located in a nice, safe neighbourhood with good bus and metro links to other parts of Rio.

The building is quite old and could use a fair bit of maintenance.

Great hostel in a great area of rio. Quiet and safe street near the metro of botafogo. Very relaxing hostel, good atmosphere. Nice rooms, art on the wall.
